Hanging Light Fixtures

June 21 2015 – Angie Besecker

We recommend these guidelines when installing hanging light fixtures in your interior spaces.

Dining Room
The general rule is to hang a chandelier 30"over a table if your table is 30" high and your ceiling height is 8'. Hang the chandelier an additional 3" for every additional foot of ceiling. If it is an oversized chandelier, you may want to hang it a little higher.

Living Room, Bedroom or Other Room
When hanging a light fixture in a room where someone will walk under it, we recommend that the bottom of the light fixture be at lest 7' from the floor.

Kitchen Island
Typically the bottom of the light should be 6' from the floor when hanging lights over a kitchen island.
